2019/2020

Start of the 2019/2020 school year, or: Come and visit us

Start of the 2019/2020 school year, or: Come and visit us

We were all happy to meet again in September 2019 after spending the summer looking forward to each other – and this vision of meeting inspired our theme for the new school year: It will be a year of visiting and sharing. Check out our living pictures… don’t they make you want to visit us? All it takes is to arrange a get-together and then do it. And what kind of a visit would it be if you didn’t get some tea or coffee? Choose the cup of your liking...

Pumpkin Day (October 2019)

Pumpkin Day (October 2019)

We all were looking forward to it, and now finally the long-anticipated P-Day – Pumpkin Day – is upon us. The weather played along, too, so we spent nearly the entire morning on the terrace enjoying the smells and colors of autumn. There was no shortage of fun. It’s not easy to do an off-road slalom with a wheelbarrow. On the photographs that we took during the event, you can admire our wonderful pumpkin outfits... too bad that they didn’t record the original pumpkin chants... Here’s one, but it’s representative of the rest: Pumpkin party! = Pumpkin perfection!

St. Martin’s Day get-together (November 2019)

St. Martin’s Day get-together (November 2019)

We enjoyed our time waiting for St. Martin; it was a time full of great ideas and jokes. We sang songs, followed by a short contest for the teachers, and finally one of St. Martin’s envoys arrived with a gift. It wasn’t white like snow, but golden, and left behind a fine mist like the powdery snow kicked up by the hooves of a galloping horse. The photo corner was besieged as well: everybody could have themselves eternalized and thus take home a little memento for the “almost-advent” season.

A fun time selling our products in 2019

A fun time selling our products in 2019

We are gathering experiences, learning new things, perfecting our social skills. And it’s our tradition that we help run the Zahrada Integration Center’s store. In 2019, our sales were a great success during an interesting conference by the Jahodovka Institute of Professions at the College of Social Law in Prague 10, and also at the Easter and Christmas markets in Jílové u Prahy. Thanks you everyone, who bought items from us. May your goods bring you joy, just as our meeting with you brought joy to us...

Breakfast with St. Nicholas (December 2019)

Breakfast with St. Nicholas (December 2019)

It wouldn’t be the beginning of December if St. Nicholas didn’t stop by... In the night from the 4th to the 5th of December 2019, he again secretly visited our school and left us a big surprise. The encounter with the devil and his hellish cauldron and the angelic flute playing inside the warm building were a joy for all.

Mid-year fun (30 January 2020)

Mid-year fun (30 January 2020)

Our mid-year celebration for handing out end-of-semester report cards was organized by the quickly established “Pass the Sausage” club, whose members share a passion and love for roasting sausages in any weather and throughout the year, and which has quite a few supporters (students and adults alike) at our school. During the fun morning program, every classroom teacher drew a ticket for their class and won a valuable prize – a set of sausages. And what did they do with those sausages? Well, they roasted them, of course! We all met outside by the fire and roasted ourselves some nice crispy wieners. Not a half-baked idea at all! And a great report-card day, too.

End of the 2019/2020 school year (30 June 2020)

End of the 2019/2020 school year (30 June 2020)
The end of the 2019/2020 school year at Zahrádka and Zahrada was not nearly as festive as usual, since it was still influenced by the echoes of the coronavirus… In September 2019 we started with the motto “Come and visit us,” which naturally was not nearly as easy in the second semester as we had originally imagined. In the end, we nevertheless managed to realize this vision, except that we did it the other way around: Instead of parents visiting us at school, we visited our pupils’ homes by calling them on the phone and sending and watching videos with songs and short motivational recordings of all kind. In short, it was distance learning on a level more or less accessible for our pupils. Of course, the handing out of report cards on 30 June 2020 also meant saying good-bye to our oldest pupils, who left to go to other schools. We wish them and all of us a healthy and relaxing summer break.
