Zahrádka Primary School takes first place
On March 22, 2013, UNICEF organized World Water Day, whose aim is to call attention to the lack of clean drinking water in the world. The program also included a “Most beautiful toilet contest” which our autism classroom entered.
Each classroom was given a paper model of a latrine. The task was to decorate it as beautifully as possible. The event was held on Prague’s Fruit Market (Ovocný trh). We arrived with decorations and designs that we had prepared in advance during art courses. It was a cold winter day and so all the glue froze before we could glue our designs to the outhouse. But we didn’t give up and in the end were saved by the simple but very effective tape.
Later, we received a grand surprise in the form of a telephone call from UNICEF, who told us that we had won the contest! Besides bringing home happy memories from making art, our school won a three-month supply of cleaning supplies.
In the online store at www.unicef.cz, you can “rent” our outhouse and thus contribute to a good cause.
