Past and future events
In June we had the rare and wonderful chance to get to know Mrs. Lamminen and her daughter Maruška (pictured), who came with their physical therapist all the way from Finland. The meeting between her and several parents of girls with Rett Syndrome was also attended by members of the Rett Community association, which hosted us. Our director, Dagmar Rosecká, gave our guests a tour of our school, after which we shared our experiences. We agreed on a surprising number of points. Thank you and we look forward to working together in the future.
Other news for parents and teachers of children with Rett Syndrome:
1. On Saturday, 5 October, a conference will be held at Motol hospital on the diagnostics, neurology and practical aspects of Rett Syndrome. The conference is being held by the Rett Community association, where you can register until 27 Sept. (www.rett-cz.com). Also appearing at the conference will be two teachers of girls with RTT (from Chrudim and Pardubice).
2. Teachers of girls with Rett Syndrome may be interested in the project “Good experiences in teaching girls with Rett Syndrome”. The project is also intended for parents who are actively involved in their daughters’ education (the event is being organized by the Zahrádka Primary School).
3. The Czech Association for Rare Diseases was founded in March 2012. For information on the organization’s goals, visit its website at www.vzacna-onemocneneni.cz. There is even information in English. (Many of our pupils have been diagnosed with a rare disease.)
