Music therapy studio
In the 2006–2007 school year, our school completed its music therapy studio, which is used for active music therapy programs. With its audio and lighting equipment, the studio is a reflection of our school’s holistic approach to music therapy. The studio’s illumination through spotlights and the use of colored lights is done with a view towards the physical effect on the human organism. The surfaces on which pupils sit or lie contain integrated vibration surfaces allowing them to consciously perceive sound and music with their whole body. The reproduced music is transferred to the body through vibrations. Low-frequency pulses have a special therapeutic effect – they release muscle tension, relax and massage the body, provide joint relief, and more, all of which has a very positive effect on pupils with combined handicaps, cerebral palsy, or spasticity. The studio also has a variety of musical instruments that we can use for our musical activities: percussion, drums, ocean drums, Orff instruments, and ethnic instruments.
